Russian B2 to Russian C2 Study Routine

How do you get from a B2 to a C2 level in Russian?

Question:

Hi Daria!

Thank you so much for this site!

In Gareth’s interview you say, “I studied systematically for the next two years, following a routine that worked for me. That would be around 2-3 hours day, 5 days a week”.  Could you please publish a sample month-to-month program for independent learners who are starting form B2, as you did, including what materials to study from (other than this site), what to start with & how to organize one’s time?  I feel lost :/

Also do you recommend taking the TORFL 3 as part of the process to getting to the the TORFL 4?

Best,

Asher

I feel you where you say “I’m feeling lost.”

Tackling the test was very intuitive for me; between the one and only sample test, school textbooks, internet resources and real life Russian, I don’t even know how I’d go about structuring all this content into a plan or a manual. At least not at this time. Working out a viable, fail-proof, step-by-step study routine is so hard here that I am just not up to the task, really. In fact, it took me quite a while to even put the materials you have on here together.

I would definitely recommend taking C1 prior to C2, even though I didn’t.

I think it is important, though, to take both tests at the same place/institutions, to get an idea on how it’s conducted in terms time-constraints, distribution of drafting paper, audio quality, etc.

Hope this helps!
